History
Rendertest was originally written by Douglas Spotted Eagle to provide a common baseline for users to compare their system performance using Sony Vegas.
As the editing computer horsepower increased and the efficiency of Sony Vegas improves, the original Rendertest was simply completing the run too fast, and the differences in the individual systems was getting lost in the noise. John Cline rewrote Rendertest to add more complexity to the task, but the same Moore's Law has caught up to RendertestHDV and it is time for another upgrade to the new, improved (and more complex) Rendertest-2010
Reporting the Rendertest results on the Sony Vegas Users forums is free-form and with over 500 entries, no two in similar format, it is difficult to make any statistical comparisons. This database was created to collect the information in a useable format. Users can download the data in a CSV format file to make their own statistical examinations5
Rendertest-2010

This is RENDERTEST-2010.VEG, it is an updated version of RENDERTEST-HDV.VEG which John Cline originally released on May 8, 2007. This VEG will run in Vegas v8 and higher.
The fastest render time when John Cline released the original test was 120 seconds on an Intel 2.66Ghz Core2 Quad Extreme. Recently, the render times have been in the 30-40 second range using the latest Intel i7 processors. The new RENDERTEST-2010.VEG should take exactly four times longer to render than the last version so there should be some correlation between these results and the results from the original test.
The render parameters are:
"Render as" HDV using the default MPEG2 "HDV 1080-60i" template at the "Best" render setting.
Make sure that "Close this dialog box when rendering complete" is unchecked.
